Recertification Policy

Individuals who have let their recertification lapse for over a year beyond the recertification date need to rewrite only the written component of the certification and pay the cost of the full registration fee to have their certified status reinstated.

Individuals holding CNLA certifications must recertify every two years. To renew your certificates, you must show that you have kept current in the industry by earning 24 continuing education units (CEUs). The CNLA tracks these credits and can be obtained by attending seminars or workshops, volunteering for industry events, and judging during certification tests. A total of 24 CEUs are required every two years.

Speaking, writing and reading books can also count toward CEUs. Additional forms (below) are required with your recertification form for these activities.

There is a fee of $75 plus HST every two years, plus the submission of CEUs. Please consult the Recertification form below for exact details, call the CNLA office at 1-888-446-3499, or email certification@cnla-acpp.ca.

CNLA understands that some education and training opportunities may not fall into one of the current categories. Learn how you can include these as CEUs.

Request for pre-approval of CEUs Thank you for requesting pre-approval of CEUs for a seminar, conference, third-party training, or company in-house training opportunity. CNLA understands that our list of education and service activities may not be exhaustive, and we do not have many opportunities. If there is an event that you think should qualify for recertification CEUs, please submit the following information to the CNLA office. Seminar, Conference, Third Party Training To review this request and determine if it would qualify for recertification CEUs and how CEUs might be assigned, please provide the information fully describing the continuing education opportunity to include:

• the date or dates
• target audience
• learning outcomes
• agenda with session times
• subject matter
• qualifications of instructors

For seminars, conferences, or third-party training opportunities, the promotional flyer or brochure for the event may be submitted if it contains this information.
