As a Teen I never wanted to be in the nursery business. So I went to College to become a forest ranger. Within three months I decided that was not for me and transferred to Horticulture in Olds Alberta. I entered a partnership with my two brothers in 1977 which lasted until 2006 when Lee Aaron and I bought them out. Early on I served on the SNLA board, however my CNLA interaction was the benefit to myself and the company. It became the ongoing professional development that shaped so much of our nursery and my life. Our company was in a small province, in a small city and to succeed we needed to be multi disciplined. We did commercial and residential landscape contracting, we had garden centres, as well as the nursery (tree farm).
Personally we always liked traveling and for many years my passion was choral singing.
