Went to SFU for three years taking Bio Sciences, left because I had to also take Calculus, chemistry and physics which I found uninteresting. Went to BCIT and took a two year diploma program for Agri Buisness, ag jobs were minimum wage and I was starting a new family. Got a shift job at a petro chemical plant working three 12-hour shifts on and off for three days. Started doing landscaping on my three days off. Took additional landscape design and estimating courses at BCIT night school. Got a job as a foreman for Heritage Landscape running their commercial installations for eight years, went to Holland landscapers and did the same for two years. Got laid off in the 80's recession (interest rates of 22% and a new mortgage!) Started Hunter Landscape Design in 1985 doing commercial installations, attended a BCLNA All Commodity Conference and changed my business plan to design build residential after hearing Ruth Olde do a presentation. Bought an acreage in 2007 and started Selections Nursery and Design Centre. So now we do design and sell products to landscapers. We use the contractors buying from us to do the installation of our designs and we project manage them.
